Farm Party

We had a party at the Oak Mountain State Park Petting Zoo. There were a lot of guest including: Great Granny and Great Grandaddy, Mia and Papa, Nana and Aunt Cozy ("Coco"), Great Uncle James and Great Aunt Susan ("Fue Fue"), Uncle Bubbie, Cousins Chris, April, Andrew and Avery, and Mommy's friend Ashley. Of course Mommy, Daddy and Landry were all there too. It was a beautiful sunny day with highs near 60. The animals were friendly and Grayson got to pet and feed as many of them as he wanted.
Can you tell which one is Mia?

And Landry had a ball too!

Grayson turns 2!!!!

It is hard to imagine that Grayson is already two years old! Mommy doesn't do very well with birthdays so far, so we won't stroll down memory lane about how quickly he changed from a baby into a little boy.

We started the day by singing Happy Birthday when he got up. Next we made our first mark on his growth chart in his room...32 inches!

We spent the next 13 hours traveling to Birmingham. Originally, we planned to travel to Evansville and celebrate with diner, cake and presents. Unfortunately, there was a major ice storm that passed through the entire mid-section of the country and we weren't sure we would make it back out if we made it there in the first place. So, we did it all in one day. We hit a serious traffic snag north of Nashville (so close, yet so far away) which cost us a couple of hours. At that point we decided to stop and eat at Chick fil A where Grayson opened presents before finishing the remainder of the journey.

Chuck E. Cheese

Grayson's friend Aylivia celebrated her 2nd birthday with many other friends at Chuck E. Cheese. Mommy was amazed that Grayson was so interested in getting that close to Chuck E...given his fear of Santa! He danced with him, gave him high five, and a HUGE hug after the birthday song. We spent almost the whole morning playing games, eating pizza and having a good time in general. Who would've thought it would be that much fun?!?

Landry's 1st haircut

Mommy got tired of trying to keep hair out of poor baby's eyes, so we decided it was time for a little trim. Grayson was due a cut, so we were going to Locks of Fun anyway. The little princess sat in a Dora Jeep and did very well. She got cute bangs cut and her hair is much more manageable. Hopefully she doesn't get used to being pampered at the salon too soon!

A New Friend

Daddy noticed a new friend in our yard. He called Mommy to alert her and get pictures.

It seems the Prestons had a spare plastic flamingo that they snuck over during the night. They knew we would appreciate the irony of a flamingo perched on a pile of snow. We plan to keep him standing guard until the snow is melted.

We finally got the use the sled

It was a nice, yet cold, Saturday. The kids were in good moods and there was plenty of fresh snow on the ground. We seized the chance to break out the sled and pull Grayson in the yard. He really enjoyed it...until he got dumped out and became covered in snow! We then took the opportunity to throw snowballs at him. Shockingly he enjoyed that.

Happy New Year 2009!!

Grayson, Landry, and Mommy went to Evansville to visit Mia and Papa. We didn't do anything terribly exciting which was a welcome event. We were well fed and got plenty of naps and rest. Mia did some sewing and embroidering. We all got our fill of Grayson's DVD's Elmo's Potty Time and 123 Count with Me featuring Ernie. All we heard the whole time was "Elmo! Ernie! Elmo! Ernie!". We got to experience Rural King...a place that can only be done justice by seeing it in person. Hank, Uncle Bubbie's Maltese, was also visiting. He and Grayson became fast friends and were priceless entertainment. It was a fun trip for all!
